The Atlanta Falcons unveiled on Thursday a new set of primary uniforms for the 2026 NFL season, giving them their second refresh in the last six years. Back for the first time since 2019 are red jerseys, which will serve as the team's home option. They will wear white tops on the road and have two choices of pants -- black and white -- for those games outside of Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
While the Falcons' primary helmet went almost entirely untouched during the refresh (the brushed nickel face mask is out in favor of silver), the typeface for numbers on their jerseys is brand new. The new number set features a mostly standard block design but with an angular mark on every digit, which the team refers to as a "wing tip."
Across the cheston the home reds is the "Falcons" script, while the road whites read "Atlanta." On the shoulders and sleeves are player numbers, the Nike Swoosh and Falcons logo. The pants feature four-tone stripes down both sides.
Below is the updated look. From left to right, Drake London dons the all-white road option, Bijan Robinson and A.J. Terrell show off the home set and Jalon Walker displays the black-pant road ensemble.
The ultra-popular throwback uniform, including the dashing red helmets, remains unchanged and will be available to the Falcons for as many as four regular-season games.
President of football Matt Ryan is one of the premier former players who comes to mind at the thought of the Falcons wearing red uniforms at home. Heading into his first year in the team's front office, the ex-quarterback explained why he is thrilled to see that color make a return to the primary lineup.
"Red has always meant something different in Atlanta. It's when our best football has been played, where this city has shown its heart, and when I experienced the greatest moments of my career," Ryan said in a release. "When you put on red, you feel the history, the pride, and the energy that comes with being a Falcon. Bringing it back honors what's been built here and fueling what's coming next, which I'm very excited for our fans to see."
The last set of Falcons uniforms was not universally popular. The combination of drop shadows on the numbers, "ATL" lettering on the chest and a futuristic typeface did not resonate positively throughout the masses. In turn, the Falcons went just six years between redesigns. NFL teams are only permitted to fundamentally change their primary uniforms once every five years.
